Liminal

WHEN I PRONOUNCE THE WORD FUTURE,
the first syllable already belongs to the past.

When I pronounce the word Silence,
I destroy it.

When I pronounce the word Nothing,
I create something that cannot be contained within any non-existence.

Every work of creation is situated, at least for an instant, on a brief boundary that separates yesterday from today and today from tomorrow, tradition from its recreation and form from its meaning. Liminal resides there, on that threshold, in that transition: seeking to be neither origin nor destination.

There is, of course, flamenco in its fullest expression—the singing, the guitar playing, the dancing; there is the stage, the props and set dressing, the recognizable melodies and the popular songs, but with the aspiration to be presented in a highly personal way and with a formal and conceptual nakedness.
